When fed on a low carbohydrate diet (0% sucrose supplement), no developmental delay is observed for Scer\GAL4Cg.PA GlySGD12070 (plus Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa) animals. In contrast, when fed a 10% or 20% sucrose supplemented diet, these animals exhibit a slight delay.

Expression of GlySGD12070 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu leads to a decrease in the age-dependent accumulation of glycogen granules in the neurons of 31-day-old flies, and improves the climbing performance of 31-day-old, but not 5-day-old flies, as compared to age-matched controls, and expression of GlySGD12070 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage) leads to an increase in lifespan in males, but not females, as compared to controls.

Expression of GlySGD12070 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR is able to significantly reduce the size of autophagosomes in the muscles of chloroquine-treated larvae starved on low-nutrient food for 6 hours. The number of autophagosomes is not significantly changed compared to controls.

Adults expressing GlySGD12070 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression of GlySGD12070 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) results in viable flies or complete lethality, depending on the particular P{GD12070} insertion line used.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 may result in lethality before the pupal stage, depending on the insertion line used.
