Unlike controls, larvae expressing HHEXGD4293 under the control of Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PL are intolerant to high levels of dietary sucrose or 0.1M glucosamine, and fail to pupariate. Raising these animals on a high salt diet has a similar effect. However, these animals show a similar response to controls when raised on other diets, including diets containing hydrogen peroxide, silver nitrate, or high fat.

Expression of HHEXGD4293 under the control of Scer\GAL4tin.cBa (together with Scer\GAL4Scer\UAS.cHa), Scer\GAL4srp.Hemo, Scer\GAL4sns.GCN, Scer\GAL4byn-Gal4, Scer\GAL4Myo31DF-NP0001, Scer\GAL4Ilp2.PR or Scer\GAL4Cg.PA does not affect the viability of larvae fed a high sucrose diet. In contrast, expression of HHEXGD4293 via Scer\GAL4esg-05730B or Scer\GAL4Dot.PK does decrease survival to eclosion in a sugar-sensitive manner, and expression via Scer\GAL4esg-05730B also decreases survival to pupariation in a sugar-sensitive manner.

Scer\GAL4Cg.PA-mediated expression of HHEXGD4293, together with Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa, in the presence of high (1.0M) sucrose, is male lethal. Both larval and adult female flies are significantly smaller than controls; wandering third instar larvae are hyperglycemic; both adults and larvae have significantly lower triglyceride levels compared to controls.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 results in a reduction in the average size of neuroblasts together with shorter neuroblast lineages (less daughter cells per neuroblast) in the larval brain compared to controls.

Adults expressing HHEXGD4293 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Depending on the insertion line used, expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR can result in viable flies or early pupal lethality.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 may result in semi-lethality, depending on the insertion line used.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in a colour difference between the central Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 expression domain of the notum and the surrounding lateral region in 0% or 10-20% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 expression domain, depending on the insertion line used.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in bristle morphology defects on the notum in 0-10% or 20-30% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 expression domain, depending on the insertion line used.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in the absence of 0-10% or 80-90% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237-expressing area of the notum, depending on the insertion line used.
