Expression of cluGD13926 under the control of either Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR or Scer\GAL4elav-C155 impairs larval locomotion (reduced crawling speed compared to wild-type). Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR-driven expression is partially lethal (only few escapers manage to eclose) and leads to mitochondrial morphology as well as functional defects (enlarged clustered mitochondria with reduced inner mitochondrial membrane potential) in adult indirect flight muscles
Expression of cluGD13926 driven by Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW or Scer\GAL4tub.PU significantly increases abnormal wing posture compared to controls.
Adults expressing cluGD13926 under the control of the cardioblast-specific Scer\GAL4tin.CΔ4 driver show significantly reduced survival on day 6 after a shift to 29[o]C compared to control flies.
Adults expressing cluGD13926 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in adult/pharate lethality.

The larval locomotor deficit, very low adult eclosion rate as well as the mitochondrial morphology defects in adult indirect flight muscles (enlarged clustered mitochondria) characteristic for animals expressing cluGD13926 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR can be suppressed to a varying degree by co-expression of any of the following: Pink1Scer\UAS.cCa, parkScer\UAS.cGa, MarfGD11094, Drp1UAS.cDa or TER94UAS.cRb but not that of CatScer\UAS.cAa, Sod1UAS.cWa or Sod2Scer\UAS.cMa. Co-expression of Pink1Scer\UAS.cCa or parkScer\UAS.cGa also rescues the loss of inner mitochondrial potential observed in the knock-down adults (measured using cationic fluorescent dye JC-1).
Co-expression of Pink1dsRNA.Scer\UAS or parkKK107919 increases the percentage of abnormal wing posture seen in flies with cluGD13926 driven by Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW or Scer\GAL4tub.PU, respectively.
