UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Flies expressing CanA-14FGD14690 in all neurons, under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155, display significant hyperactivity compared to control flies under both light/dark and dark/dark conditions. Total sleep for subjective day and subjective night also decreases significantly in these flies. On average, total daily activity increases significantly by two- to threefold compared to wild-type. These flies have a significantly shorter sleep bout length only during nighttime.
Adults expressing CanA-14FGD14690 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
