Expression of Chmp1GD11219 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU or Scer\GAL4tub.PU results in lethality at or before the pupal stage. Occasional female escapers are seen, which have phenotypes including thickened wing veins, rough eyes and a general failure to thrive.

Expression of Chmp1GD11219 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in thickening of all dorsal wing veins (L3, L5 and distal L4) at 28[o]C. At 30[o]C it is difficult to distinguish between vein and intervein tissue.

Expression of Chmp1GD11219 under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc.PU results in some intervein cells between veins L3 and L4 adopting a vein fate at the distal end of the wing.

Expression of Chmp1GD11219 under the control of Scer\GAL4en.PU results in thickening of veins L4 and L5. Cells with additional wing hairs and altered wing hair polarity are also seen adjacent to the anterior boundary of Scer\GAL4en.PU expression.

Adults expressing Chmp1GD11219 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in lethality by 7 days after eclosion.
