The expression of RdlGD4609 under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf leads to a significant decrease in sleep duration during both day time and night time (ZT1-12 and ZT13-24, respectively), and leads to a significant increase in sleep latency period, as compared to controls.

RdlGD4609 driven by Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf significantly decreases nighttime sleep but does not affect sleep latency in mated females.

Expression of RdlGD4609 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI is lethal.

Adults expressing RdlGD4609 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression of RdlGD4609 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) results in viable flies or partial lethality, depending on the particular P{GD4609} insertion line used.

The decreased sleep duration and increased sleep latency period observed upon the expression of RdlGD4609 under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf is suppressed by Fbxl4Δ45 homozygosity.

Total nighttime sleep is reduced in paraGEFS+/+ mated females with RdlGD4609 driven by Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf (one copy of each), to the same extent as is seen in controls with RdlGD4609 driven by Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf; sleep latency is differentially affected, with significant increases in paraGEFS+/+ mated females but no effect in controls.

Flies co-expressing RdlGD4609 and Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu show a significant reduction in total sleep time in light:dark (LD) and constant darkness (DD) conditions (flies expressing Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa alone under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu do not show significant differences in sleep compared to controls).
