Scer\GAL4rn-GAL4-5-mediated expression results in neoplastic wing disc overgrowth.

Scer\GAL4rn-GAL4-5-mediated expression of Syx7GD2767 induces a robust delay in the larva-to-pupa transition of about 2-3 days. Discs reach near-normal size after 5 days of development, then undergo unrestricted neoplastic growth. Animals grow at the same rate as controls but fail to pupariate at the normal time, giving rise to giant larvae and pupae after 2-3 days of extra growth.

Adults expressing Syx7GD2767 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Depending on the insertion line used, expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR can result in late pupal lethality or undefined lethality.

Coexpression of Ilp8KK112161 rescues the delay at pupariation of Scer\GAL4rn-GAL4-5, Syx7GD2767 animals, but does not suppress their overgrowth phenotype.

Coexpression of pucScer\UAS.cMa rescues the delay at pupariation of Scer\GAL4rn-GAL4-5, Syx7GD2767 animals.
