Dead adult pharates expressing Top2GD4570 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU show loss of eyes and severe disruption of head structures.

The brains of third instar larvae expressing Top2GD4570 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU display significantly decreased mitotic index compared to controls, the chromosomes are often undercondensed, elongated or fragmented and most of the metaphasic cells are poly- or hyperploid.

Male larvae expressing Top2GD4570 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU display defects in the morphology of the polytene chromosome X in larval salivary glands. The X chromosome appears bloated and shows partial or complete loss of its typical banding pattern.

Expression of Top2GD4570 under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS results in a decrease in gypsy insulator function, manifested by a change in body colour from yellow to black in y2 mutants.

Expression of Top2GD4570 in the prospective wing margin region of the developing wing under the control of Scer\GAL4bbg-C96 results in a decrease in gypsy insulator function and suppresses the ct6 phenotype back to wild-type.

Adults expressing Top2GD4570 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in late pupal lethality.
