Expression of car^GD1397 under the control of Scer\GAL4^unspecified results in larval garland nephrocytes that exhibit fragmentation of late endosomes and many small electron dense lysosome-like organelles, as compared to controls.

Somatic cell clones of fat body cells expressing car^GD1397 under the control of Scer\GAL4^{Scer\FRT.Rnor\CD2.Act5C} exhibit impaired starvation-induced autophagy.

Adults expressing car^GD1397 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Depending on the insertion line used, expression under the control of Scer\GAL4^Mef2.PR can result in viable flies or late pupal lethality.
