The expression of idaGD5998 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU leads to eye defects, including a mild decrease in size, severe eye morphology and polarity defects, and the frequent formation of ectopic structures within the eye field that resemble naked head cuticles or antennae (indicative of a complete loss or a conversion of cell fate), as compared to controls; this expression strongly inhibits both morphogenetic furrow progression (particularly evident in the lateral margin regions) and retinal differentiation in the third instar larval eye disc, without affecting the disc size, as compared to controls. The expression under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU does not lead to any obvious eye defects, as compared to controls.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 results in loss of neuroblasts in the larval brain. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 may result in a reduction in the average size of neuroblasts in the larval brain (depending on the insertion line used). Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 results in shorter neuroblast lineages (less daughter cells per neuroblast) in the larval brain compared to controls. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 may result in mild defects in the shape of ganglion mother cells in the larval brain (depending on the insertion line used). Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 may result in mild defects in the shape of neuroblasts in the larval brain (depending on the insertion line used).
Adults expressing idaGD5998 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies. Expression of idaGD5998 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) results in viable flies or partial lethality, depending on the particular P{GD5998} insertion line used.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in loss of bristles on the notum in 0% or 30-40% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 expression domain, depending on the insertion line used. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in bristle morphology defects on the notum in 0% or 20-30% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 expression domain, depending on the insertion line used. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in the absence of 40-50% or 70-80% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237-expressing area of the notum, depending on the insertion line used.
