smt3GD10521-knockdown clones exhibit a range of defects including reduced wings and malformed legs. Haltere transformations range from the appearance of ectopic bristles to the significant outgrowth of wing tissue.

Expression of smt3GD10521 in the haltere under the control of Scer\GAL4A9 results in multiple defects including ectopic bristle formation and increased size.

Expression of smt3GD10521 under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS results in embryos with missing or fused denticle belts.

Depending on the insertion line used, expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR can result in early pupal lethality or late pupal lethality.

Expression of smt3GD10521 using Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in a marked reduction of mitotic cells throughout the wing pouch of the wing disc and in the dorsal compartment in particular. Adult wings are greatly reduced in size and are misshapen.
