Expression of wndGD13786 under the control of Scer\GAL4tey-5053A (in combination with a Dicer-2 transgene to enhance RNAi efficiency) leads to suppressed growth response of motoneuron axons after nerve crush injury in third instar larvae, as compared to wild type.

Expression of wndGD13786 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.Switch.PO (in the presence of RU486) results in an increase in maximum bouton diameter at the larval neuromuscular junction compared to controls.

Adults expressing wndGD13786 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
