Stage 14 egg chambers from females expressing Mmp2dsRNA.UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR47A04 show an intact or broken posterior basement membrane, instead of the mostly open posterior basement membrane observed in controls.

Knockdown of Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4Act.PU during adulthood (using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) causes a significant reduction in egg laying compared to wild type; mature egg chambers accumulate, ovaries lack corpus luteum structures and average time to ovulate significantly increases. Follicle cell trimming significantly decreases and the number of eggs laid in 6 hours after mating significantly decreases in Scer\GAL4Act.PU>Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS (with Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) females.

Expression of Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4GMR47A04 (along with UAS-dcr2) leads to a significant decrease in egg laying and a significant increase in ovulation time in females, compared to controls. Scer\GAL4GMR42A05>Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS females lay significantly fewer eggs (in 2 days) compared to controls.

Expression of Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4btl.PS results in increased basal lamina deposition around tunneled tracheae and dorsal air sac primordia associated with the wing disc. Extension and growth of the dorsal air sac primordia is stunted in these mutants, and the developing air sac tubes are filled with polarised epithelial cells.

Expression of Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS in the wing imaginal disc under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 causes hyperplastic growth of the dorsal air sac primordia.

Expression of Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in a cleft thorax phenotype.

The disrupted formation of the presumptive posterior crossvein (assessed by p-Mad staining) in the pupal wing observed in animals expressing Gyc76CVDRC.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4hh.PU is rescued by co-expression of Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS, although the Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS,Gyc76CVDRC.cUa double knock-down larvae and pupae are occasionally unhealthy-looking and those individuals also have pupal wings of poor morphology.

Expression of Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS in enteroblasts under the control of Scer\GAL4Su(H).GBE reduces tumor formation in the anterior midgut of Sox21a6 mutant flies.

Coexpression of Mmp1dsRNA.Scer\UAS and Mmp2dsRNA.Scer\UAS further reduces the invasiveness of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI>Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS, scrib1 cells.
