AvicGFPGr5a.3x.IRES.2x labels the sugar-sensing neurons (S cell) of the taste bristles of the proboscis. Neurons labeled with AvicGFPGr5a.3x.IRES.2x do not overlap with expression of ScerGAL4ppk28.PC, which labels the water-sensing neurons.

AvicGFPGr5a.3x.IRES.2x is expressed in a subset of sugar-responsive gustatory receptor neurons of the labellum that project to regions PMS4 and PMS5 of the posterior maxillary sensory center. The projections pattern overlaps with the one of ScerGAL4NP1017.

AvicGFPGr5a.3x.IRES.2x is expressed in the sugar-sensitive gustatory receptor neurons of the labellar taste pegs of the proboscis. Expression of AvicGFPGr5a.3x.IRES.2x in the proboscis is distinct from the expression of ScerGAL4E409. The projection of the neurons labeled by AvicGFPGr5a.3x.IRES.2x in the anterior subesophageal ganglion does not overlap with the projections labeled by ScerGAL4E409.
