Spf45J23/Df(2L)D1 larvae show an MMS-sensitive phenotype; they do not survive to adulthood after exposure to 0.075% MMS, in contrast to control larvae. Mutants are defective in DNA repair; in assays of excision and repair of the P{hswa} element, mutant flies show an overall reduction in the rate of repair products recovered compared to wild-type controls. Mutant females do not show an increased level of X-chromosome nondisjunction during meiosis compared to controls.
