Statement
Reference
Ubiquitous expression of MTF-1[Tub.PY] sensitises flies to zinc toxicity as compared with wild-type flies. Males expressing MTF-1[Tub.PY] fed with zinc metal die at faster rate in comparison with wild-type flies but show no sensitivity or resistance on cadmium-supplemented medium relative to wild-type. MTF-1[Tub.PY] overexpression sensitises larvae to zinc overload but increases larval resistance to copper and ammonium tetrathiomolybdate (TTM) toxicity. Ubiquitous overexpression of MTF-1[Tub.PY] sensitises flies to starvation induced mortality.

Overexpression of MTF-1[Tub.PY] in Scer\GAL4[NP2020]>ATP7[dsRNA.Sym.Scer\UAS] flies significantly enhances pupal survival.
The increased sensitivity of flies expressing Dpy-30L1[Scer\UAS.cVa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[Act] to cadmium or zinc in the food medium is rescued by co-expression of MTF-1[Tub.PY].
