Expressing pleJF01813 under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA leads to fragmented mitochondria in the third instar larval fat body (as assessed by MitoGFP).

Expression of pleJF01813 under the control of Scer\GAL4ple.PF in larvae significantly alters mouth hook contractions in the presence, but not absence, of odors, compared to controls.

Expression of pleJF01813 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR64H06 significantly impairs short-term appetitive olfactory memory following training with fructose, compared to controls.

Flies expressing pleJF01813 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP6510 show an accelerated age-dependent decline in locomotor performance in a startle-induced negative geotaxis (SING) assay compared to controls.

Rotenone treatment of flies expressing pleJF01813 under the control of Scer\GAL4ple.PF increases the mean life span by 20% with respect to Scer\GAL4ple.PF controls, indicating rotenone toxicity is partially mediated by dopamine levels. Neuronal expression, under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu increases mean life span by 27%.

Flies expressing pleJF01813 under the control of Scer\GAL4ple.PF that are treated for 6 days with rotenone exhibit an approximate 20% loss of dopaminergic neurons, compared to 50% loss in control flies.
