Expression of PtenJF01859 under the control of Scer\GAL4e16A results in a significant increase in trichome density in the wing.

Expression of PtenJF01859 in the pupal wing under the control of Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B and Scer\GAL4en.PU causes cell rearrangement defects where newly formed junctions fail to elongate and become unstable. Compared with wild-type tissues, an excess of short junctions are observed in the mutant tissue. The excess of short junctions observed in the mutant tissue is associated with a failure of junction lengthening during cell rearrangement accompanied by junction instability.

Expression of PtenJF01859 under the control of Scer\GAL4en.PU drastically effects the ridge organization on the adult wing cuticle.

Expression of trblScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG suppresses the increase in trichome density seen in the wings of flies expressing PtenJF01859 under the control of Scer\GAL4e16A. The resulting flies exhibit a significant decrease in trichome density compared with controls, as is seen in trblScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG alone.

rok2 clones generated in PtenJF01859-expressing tissue suppresses the effect of the expression of PtenJF01859 under the control of Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B and Scer\GAL4en.PU on cell packing, namely the excess of short junctions. Despite a slightly higher proportion of non-rearranging junctions (1.15-fold), the rearranging junctions neither produce an excess of short junctions nor fluctuate extensively, but lengthen to produce long cell junctions as observed in wild-type tissue. Furthermore, the packing and cell rearrangement dynamics in the double mutant tissue is similar to the one observed in rok2 single mutant tissue.
