Down-regulation of ct in differentiating blood cells, through expression of ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4Pxn.PS results in blood cell hyperplasia and overgrowth of the lymph glands. Just under 80% of pupae expressing ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Pxn.PS exhibit visible melanotic tumours.
Expression of ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU results in an overall reduction in the size of the eye compared to wild type. Expression of ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS results in loss of ommatidial bristles.
Expression of ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4vg.PM produces a jagged wing-blade margin.

Co-expression of DlScer\UAS.cDa with ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH results in dramatically altered eyes.
Flies co-expressing ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS and DlScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU show a low frequency of primary eye tumours and secondary tumours. The incidence of primary and secondary tumours is enhanced by co-expression of BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cUa. Co-expression of Pi3K92EKK102291 partially suppresses the tumorous eye growth seen in flies co-expressing ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS and DlScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU. 72.5% of flies expressing DlScer\UAS.cDa, psqGS88A8 and lolaGS88A8 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU have eye tumours, with 4.9% having macroscopically visible secondary tumour growths derived from the developing retina. The incidence of primary and secondary tumours in these "eyeful" flies is slightly enhanced by co-expression of ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS, but is greatly enhanced if the "eyeful" flies also co-express both ctdsRNA.cGa.Scer\UAS and BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cUa.
