Overexpression of mwh[Scer\UAS.cYa] alone under the control of Scer\GAL4[en-e16E] does not result in wing hair abnormalities.
Expression of mwh[Scer\UAS.cYa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[ptc-559.1] does not result in any change in the actin cytoskeleton of wing discs and does not result in a change in the timing of hair initiation of the appearance of cytoskeleton in pupal wings. Flies expressing mwh[Scer\UAS.cYa] under the control of both Scer\GAL4[ptc-559.1] and Scer\GAL4[tub] have a mutant wing hair phenotype; small wing hairs are occasionally seen, some cells fail to form a hair, multiple wing hairs are seen and regions of slightly altered polarity are seen. These phenotypes are primarily seen in the vicinity of the posterior cross vein and in the proximal part of the anteriormost region of the wing, and although the phenotype is weak, it shows complete penetrance. In 32 hour pupal wings of this genotype, hair initiation is delayed over a substantial part of the ptc expression domain and near the posterior cross vein.

Comments
Expression of mwh[Scer\UAS.cYa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[Act] almost completely rescues the mwh[unspecified] mutant phenotype. Expression of mwh[Scer\UAS.cYa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[ptc-559.1] results in very little rescue of the mwh[unspecified] mutant phenotype and this rescue is restricted to very proximal parts of the ptc expression domain.
