Expressing Tsf1KK103815 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI leads to a significantly lower eclosion rate in flies regardless of iron or zinc content in their diet. Expression under the control of either Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI or Scer\GAL4da.G32 results in a higher frequency of pupal lethality when flies are fed an iron-rich diet compared to flies fed a regular diet and wild-type controls (regardless of diet). Mortality during development is increased in flies fed a regular diet, but unaffected under an iron-rich diet when expression is under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32.

Expressing Tsf1KK103815 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP3084 results in a severely shortened lifespan in adults fed an iron-rich diet (but not a regular or iron-depleted diet) compared to matched controls.

Expressing Tsf1KK103815 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP3084, Scer\GAL4NP5156 or Scer\GAL4elav-C155 has no impact on mortality during development under regular dietary conditions. Expression under the control of either Scer\GAL4elav-C155 or Scer\GAL4GMR.PFa has no impact on eye morphology.

Co-expressing Tsf1KK103815 with Fer1HCHGD4853 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP3084 results in partial lethality (majority die) regardless of iron content in the diet.

Co-expressing Tsf1KK103815 with Zip99CGD370 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP3084 results in a full rescue of lethality in flies fed an iron-depleted diet. Flies are viable also when fed a regular or iron-rich diet.
