The full eye expression of sdkKK105116 under the combined control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU and Dicer-2 (for efficient RNAI), but not expression under the combined control of either Scer\GAL4GMR42F06 or Scer\GAL4ato.IPC and Dicer-2 (for efficient RNAI), leads to adults tethered to a trackball failing to follow the motion of square wave contrast patterns with short wavelengths, but not with medium or long wavelengths, as compared to controls. The full eye expression of sdkKK105116 under the combined control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU and Dicer2 (for efficient RNAi), but not the expression of sdkKK105116 under the combined control of either Scer\GAL4NP6099 or Scer\GAL4repo.PU and Dicer2 (for efficient RNAi), results in defective alignment of lamina neurons along R1-R6 axons with some neurons locating beneath the lamina plexus, as compared to heterozygous controls. The full eye expression, but not the full lamina expression, of sdkKK105116 under the combined control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU and Dicer2 (for efficient RNAi) also results in defective neural superposition, with cartridges frequently frequently fused together or receiving too many or too few photoreceptor axons, as compared to controls. The expression of sdkKK105116 under the control of Scer\GAL4E(spl)mδ-HLH.0.5 alone does not affect the photoreceptor R4 axon projections in the pupal lamina, as compared to controls.
The expression of sdkKK105116 under the control of Scer\GAL4221, in combination with Dicer-2 for efficient RNAi, results in third instar larval class I abdominal dorsal multidendritic ddaD and ddaE neurons exhibiting dendrite branch misrouting, as compared to controls; expression under the control of Scer\GAL4ppk.PG, in combination with Dicer-2 for efficient RNAi, results in no obvious dendrite morphology defects in class IV abdominal dorsal multidendritic ddaC neurons, as compared to controls.
