UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
In flies reared under 12:12 light dark zeitgeber cycle, expression of trsnKK108391 under either the control of Scer\GAL4nSyb.PS or the combined control of Scer\GAL4elav.Switch.PO and RU486 treatment from day 3 post eclosion onwards (to restrict expression to adulthood) results in increased average sleep time under starvation but not under normal diet, associated with a significantly decreased starvation-induced sleep deprivation; the expression under the control of Scer\GAL4nSyb.PS also decreases the waking activity under starvation but not under normal diet, and suppresses the starvation-induced increase in waking activity observed in wild-type controls.
Expression of trsnKK108391 under the control of Scer\GAL4Lk.PK leads to significantly decreased starvation-induced sleep deprivation, as compared to wild-type controls.
