The expression of upd3KK110348 under the control of Scer\GAL4crq.Unk leads to a significant increase in survival, and a significant decrease in the bacterial burden in adults infected with Mycobacterium marinum, as compared to wild-type controls; non-infected individuals present similar survival to wild-type controls.

The expression of upd3KK110348 under the control of Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ has no significant effect in the internalization of bacteria by hemocytes in adults infected with Mycobacterium marinum, as compared to wild-type controls.

Expression of upd3KK110348 RNAi under the control Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ (but not that of either the Scer\GAL4how-24B or the Scer\GAL4mex1.PU drivers) significantly improves the lowered survival of adult flies on lard-supplemented diet compared to controls. upd3KK110348 expression driven by Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ does not alter plasmatocyte count in aged adult flies kept compared to controls.

Scer\GAL4en-e16E-mediated expression results in a strong reduction in size of the posterior compartment of the adult wing.
