Expressing ova^KK110959 under the control of Scer\GAL4^C587 leads to a significant and progressive increase in the number of female germline stem cell-like cells (i.e. stem cells and cystoblasts), as compared to controls; escort cells are still able to send protrusions to the encapsulate the germline cells.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4^nos.PG (in combination with Dicer2, for an efficient RNAi) does not cause any obvious defects in ovary morphology, and the number of female germline stem cells and cystoblasts per germarium remain largely normal.
