Expression of NJF01637, in combination with a Dicer-2 transgene to enhance RNAi efficiency, under the control of Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 from early first instar stage, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene, does not prevent female-specific loss of larval terminal neuroblasts, compared to controls.

Expression of NJF01637 under the control of Scer\GAL4Antp-21 in third instar larvae results in a significant decrease in the number of crystal cells in the anterior lymph gland lobes; high levels of reactive oxygen species in cortex and blood cells, but not in the niche; and an increase in the number of lymphocytes in the circulating hemolymph; but does not affect the size or cell number in the niche as compared to controls.

Expression of NJF01637 under the control of Scer\GAL4Antp-21 or Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ in third instar larvae results in an increase in the number of lamellocytes in the anterior lymph gland lobes, most often in the cortical zone, rarely at the medulla/cortex junction, but not in the niche or posterior lobes; and disruption of the basement membrane and dispersion of the anterior lymph gland node, as compared to controls.

Third instar larval lymph gland clones expressing NJF01637 under the control of Scer\GAL4Scer\FRT.Rnor\CD2.Act5C produce descendents that fail to differentiate into lamellocytes, but cause an increase in cells in the vicinity displaying lamellocyte morphology and cell dispersal.
