In pupal retinas tkvIR1.Scer\UAS; tkvIR2.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4GMR.PF at around 25 hours APF inter-ommatidial precursor cells fail to maintain stable, adherens junction mediated contacts with each, allowing abberant contacts to form between primary pigment cells in adjacent ommatidia. The affected inter-ommatidial precursor cells often fail to maintain a normal apical profile.
