Detailed Description
Statement

Hipk4/HipkBG00855 pharates dissected from pupal cases show reduced eye size, loss of ocelli, and missing ocellar and posterior vertical bristles.

Lethality occurs prior to the third larval instar.

hipk3/hipk4 pharate adults show preferential loss in the ventral region of the eye, resulting in a small round eye.

Homozygous clones in the eye disc result in a loss of photoreceptor cells in the disc.

Somatic clones mutant for hipk4 show ectopic veins in the anterior region of the wing blade along wing vein L2, loss of the posterior cross vein and occasional notches in the wing margin.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The small eye phenotype caused by expression of fngScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH is enhanced by hipk3/hipk4.

Removing one copy of hipk4 in animals expressing fz2Scer\UAS.N in the anteroposterior wing boundary using Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 enhances the wing notching phenotype, resulting in moderate to severely truncated wings.
