The expression of ApplJF02878 under the control of Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6 leads to some border cell cluster disassociation events, and frequently results in prevalent border cell migration failure or delay.

Adult flies expressing ApplJF02878 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF display eye morphology defects of varying severity (from mild glossy appearance with no size reduction ranging to very small glossy eyes with highly degenerated ommatidia and bristle loss). Expression under the Scer\GAL4elav-C155 driver leads to age-progressive decrease of locomotor (climbing) ability and shorter lifespan.

Expression of ApplJF02878 in the eye under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev results in loss of photoreceptors and planar cell polarity (PCP)-like phenotypes characterised by the presence of R3-R3 symmetrical clusters.
