Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Ablation of Scer\GAL4Ilp3.PB-expressing median neurosecretory cells (mNSCs) extends lifespan of mated female flies compared to controls when flies are fed either 1x or 8x the optimal amount of sucrose. Ablated flies climb better than wild type flies with age, and this increase is unaffected by excess sugar intake. The increase in storage triacylglycerol (TAG) levels seen in wild type flies fed 8x the optimal amount of sugar is not observed in ablated flies: TAG levels are similar when flies are fed either 1x and 8x sugar.

A foxoΔ94 mutant background is unable to restore the normal sugar-induced increase in triacylglycerol levels that is seen upon ablation of the Scer\GAL4Ilp3.PB-expressing median neurosecretory cells (mNSCs).
