45% of larp^S022529/larp^mtr-null females are sterile.

Eggs laid by larp^S022529/larp^mtr-null females show a number of defects during syncytial divisions, including chains of linked spindles and free centrosomes. Time-lapse imaging shows that centrosomes can be seen to successfully duplicate following the previous division cycle, however the movement of the centrosomes around the nuclear membrane is hindered. Nonetheless, a spindle forms between the two groups of centrosomes. Nuclear spacing is also disrupted.
