An "AG" to "AA" point mutation at the acceptor site of the last intron-exon junction which results in a frame-shift by one nucleotide. As a result, the last 91 amino acids of the wild-type gene product are changed to 31 new amino acids. The conserved "LTPP" destruction box is missing in CycE[WX] the protein.

Heterozygosity for dap[unspecified] (a null allele of dap) partially rescues the persistence of CycE[WX] mutant follicle stem cells, measured 12 days after clone induction in both adults and larvae. Expression of Scer\GAL4[tub]-driven dap[Scer\UAS.cdNa] completely suppresses the formation of large transient CycE[WX] follicle cell clones. Scer\GAL4[tub]-driven co-expression of E2f[Scer\UAS.cNa] and Dp[Scer\UAS.cDa] in follicle stem cell (FSC) clones suppresses the CycE[WX]-associated defective FSC-maintenance phenotype. Scer\GAL4[tub]- or Scer\GAL4[Act5C.PI]-driven expression of th[Scer\UAS.cHa] does not suppress the loss of follicle stem cells in CycE[WX] mutant clones. Scer\GAL4[unspecified]-driven expression of shg[Scer\UAS.cSa] suppresses the loss of follicle stem cells in somatic clones of CycE[WX].
