Expression of NmnatJF03337 in the fat body under the control of Scer\GAL4DcG results in significant hyperglycaemia. Expression of NmnatJF03337 in the fat body under the control of Scer\GAL4DcG has no effect on trehalose levels compared with controls.
28 day old flies expressing NmnatJF03337 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 exhibit β-axon loss in the mushroom body. Some neuronal loss is visible in newly-eclosed adults and almost all neurons are lost in 7-day old adults. Expressing NmnatJF03337 throughout development produces the most severe phenotype: restricting expression so that it starts at either the pupal or 1d old adult stages using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B results in a less severe phenotype.
