Inhibiting Scer\GAL4Ptth.cMa-expressing prothoracic gland neurons by expressing Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP, Ctet\TeTxLCTNT.UAS or grimUAS.cNa induces a developmental delay from L1 to pupariation, as compared to controls; this effect is not observed when using Ctet\TeTxLCIMPTNT-V.UAS.

Conversely, activating Scer\GAL4Ptth.cMa-expressing prothoracic gland neurons by temperature-induced TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa expression induces faster developmental acceleration to pupariation, as compared to controls.

Ablation (using grimUAS.cNa) or silencing (using Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP, Ork1Δ-C.UAS.EGFP or ShEKO.UAS.GFP(GL)) of Scer\GAL4Ptth.cMa neurons reduces the circadian rhythmicity of adult emergence after transfer to constant darkness, compared to controls; in the case of grimUAS.cNa and Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP, this is significant; the effects of ablation (using grimUAS.cNa) of Scer\GAL4Ptth.cMa neurons do not occur when flies are maintained on a light-dark or warm-cold circadian cycle.
