The expression of Cln3UAS.cTa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU leads to a severe decrease in eye size, as compared to controls.
Scer\GAL4GMR.PU-mediated expression of cln3Scer\UAS.cTa leads to disorganized ommatidia and loss of eye bristles. Negative geotaxis is not altered in flies expressing cln3Scer\UAS.cTa via Scer\GAL4elav.PU.
Overexpression of cln3Scer\UAS.cTa in the developing eye under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in roughening and glazing of the outer surface of the adult eye. Overexpression of cln3Scer\UAS.cTa in the posterior half of the wing under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in thickened veins, loss of tissue, vein deltas and occasionally notching in the wing margin. Overexpression of cln3Scer\UAS.cTa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ilp2.215-3 results in increased oxidative stress resistance and a small but significant extension of life span compared with wild-type.
Expression of cln3Scer\UAS.cTa in the eye, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF produces a significant glazing of the compound eye indicative of degeneration. Overexpression of cln3Scer\UAS.cTa with Scer\GAL4da.G32 does not affect microchaetae on the thorax and there is no neurogenic phenotype. Overexpression of cln3Scer\UAS.cTa with Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 specifically in the dorsal midline leads to dorsal closure phenotypes in both the thorax and the abdomen of adult flies. Overexpression of cln3Scer\UAS.cTa with Scer\GAL4en-e16E induces apoptosis in the developing wing disc.

The eye phenotype resulting from the overexpression of cln3Scer\UAS.cTa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is almost completely suppressed by Keap1EY5/+. Co-expression of SodScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF almost completely suppresses the cln3Scer\UAS.cTa-overexpression phenotype in the eye. Co-expression of CatScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF almost completely suppresses the cln3Scer\UAS.cTa-overexpression phenotype in the eye.
A tsuΔ18 heterozygous background enhances the cln3Scer\UAS.cTa overexpression eye phenotype. Overexpression of both bskK53R.Scer\UAS and cln3Scer\UAS.cTa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E produces clones of cells in the wings with multiple bristles. Overexpression of both bskScer\UAS.cNa and cln3Scer\UAS.cTa in the wing disc under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E leads to a dramatic increase in cln3Scer\UAS.cTa phenotype, with almost complete loss of tissue in the posterior half suggesting extensive apoptosis.
