Statement

Ectopic expression of mir-124[Scer\UAS.cXa] in ddaE, ddaF and DA neurons in the dorsal cluster under the control of Scer\GAL4[221] results in significantly fewer dendritic ends than in wild-type neurons. Ectopic expression of mir-124[Scer\UAS.cXa] in ddaC neurons (under the control of Scer\GAL4[477]) decreases the number of dendritic ends and the size of the dendritic field compared with wild-type neurons.

Statement
Reference
Ectopic expression of mir-124[Scer\UAS.cXa] in ddaC neurons (under the control of Scer\GAL4[477]) in a homozygous Fmr1[3] or Fmr1[3]/Fmr1[4.L] background results in a significantly attenuated phenotype, where the number of dendritic ends is partially rescued (although not to the wild-type level). Interestingly, the dendritic fields of ddaC neurons are similar in size to those of wild-type neurons. Ectopic expression of mir-124[Scer\UAS.cXa] in homozygous Dcr-1[d102] or Dcr-1[Q1147X] ddaC neuron clones (under the control of Scer\GAL4[477]) does not affect the number of dendritic ends, indicating Dcr-1 suppression of mir-124 function.
