Flies carrying shits1.Ncra\QUAS under the control of Ncra\QFET49 become paralysed within 20 seconds of being placed at 37[o]C. They show full recovery within 5 minutes after being returned to the permissive temperature.
Flies expressing shits1.Ncra\QUAS in all GH146-positive olfactory projection neurons under the control of Ncra\QFGH146.PP show a significant reduction in olfactory attraction to ethyl acetate compared to wild-type controls. Flies expressing shits1.Ncra\QUAS in only lateral/ventral GH146-positive olfactory projection neurons under the control of Ncra\QFGH146.PP (the flies contain Ncra\QSScer\UAS.cPa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4acj6-PG63, which prevents expression of shits1.Ncra\QUAS via Ncra\QFGH146.PP in the Scer\GAL4acj6-PG63 expression domain, limiting expression to the lateral/ventral GH146-positive olfactory projection neurons) show a significant reduction in olfactory attraction to ethyl acetate compared to wild-type controls.
