Drives larval expression in the wing pouch. Drives adult expression in a subset of cv-c-expressing large field neurons, including lateral fan-shaped neurons ExFl1 and ExFl2.
Scer\GAL4cv-c-C5 drives expression in the dorsal part of the fan-shaped body.
Adult expression is observed in a cluster of five or six tangential large field neurons with cell bodies located in the dorso-caudal cellular cortex lateral to the calyx of the mushroom body. The axons of these neurons arborize in the rostro-dorsal protocerebrum, near the tip of the α'-lobe of the mushroom body, and dorsally in the fan-shaped body. Additional faint expression is observed in the mushroom bodies.

Acute inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 30[o]C) of a subset of Scer\GAL4cv-c-C5 cells (expression restricted using Scer\GAL80Mef2.mb247) in adults significantly reduces electric shock avoidance, compared to controls.
Chronic activation (using Bhal\NaChBacUAS.cNa) of Scer\GAL4cv-c-C5 cells in adults results in a more negative correlation between daytime sleep duration and behavioral responsiveness to disturbance, and loss of the nighttime correlation, compared to controls.
