The expression of Rbfox1Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-109-68 leads to near lethality, and the few escapers exhibit complete loss of thoracic sensory macrochaeta and a severe loss of thoracic sensory microchaeta, leading to a 'bald appearance', which are associated with a significant decrease in the number of sensory organ precursor cells in third instar larval wing discs, as compared to controls.

Conditional expression of Rbfox1Scer\UAS.RN, using Scer\GAL80ts.╬▒Tub84B to limit expression to adult stage, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR13F02 results in enhanced 3 hr memory in an aversive olfactory memory assay in adults compared to controls without altering odor or shock avoidance.
