Germline stem cells (GSCs) in newly eclosed males expressing par-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 show a high frequency of centrosome misorientation and frequently undergo mitosis with misoriented spindles (mitosis with misoriented spindles is not seen in wild-type male GSCs). The mitotic index of male GSCs expressing par-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 is comparable to that of control GSCs.

Some boutons at the neuromuscular junction of muscle 6/7 are smaller than normal and irregularly shaped in larvae expressing par-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW. There is a mild increase in bouton number in these animals compared to controls. The subsynaptic reticulum is overgrown in the mutant boutons compared to controls.

Expression of par-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU has no significant effect on the number of boutons at the neuromuscular junction of muscle 6/7.
