Overexpression of Cyp18a1[Scer\UAS.cGa] driven by Scer\GAL4[Cyp6g1.HR] in the larval midgut, Malpighian tubules and fat body results primarily in third instar larval lethality, with a number of individuals surviving until early pupal stages. Melanotic masses can be seen in many larvae, often associated with the midgut and cuticle. Ubiquitous overexpression of Cyp18a1[null644] driven by Scer\GAL4[tub.PU] results in late embryonic lethality. This embryonic lethality can be rescued to first instar larval stage by incubating embryos in 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E). Overexpression of Cyp18a1[Scer\UAS.cGa] driven by Scer\GAL4[phm.PG] in the prothoracic cells of the ring gland results in late embryonic lethality. This embryonic lethality can be rescued to first instar larval stage by incubating embryos in 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E).
