Description

A deletion allele resulting from the imprecise excision of a P-element. The deleted region includes that part of stet which encodes a seven transmembrane domain believed to be necessary for enzymatic activity.

Detailed Description

stet1A3 homozygotes are viable but sterile.

Germaria from stet1A3 mutant animals exhibit supernumerary spectrosome-containing cells. Virtually identical phenotypes are observed when stet function is specifically removed from the germ line. Germaria with a single stet1A3 mutant germline stem cell clone exhibit non-cell autonomous defects regarding supernumerary spectrosome-containing cells.

stet1A3 mutant germaria have similar numbers of cap cells as wild-type ones.

Partially rescued by

stet1A3 is partially rescued by stetbam.PL

Comments

The female sterility and the supernumerary spectrosome-containing cell phenotype of stet1A3 mutants is rescued by the expression of stetScer\UAS.P\T.cGa driven by Scer\GAL4nos.PU in the germ line.

stetbam.PL largely reverts the supernumerary spectrosome-containing cell phenotype and rescues the female sterility of stet1A3 mutants. However, many stet1A3 mutant germaria still have more spectrosome-containing cells than their wild-type counterparts.

The supernumerary spectrosome-containing cell phenotype of stet1A3 mutants is partially reverted by the expression of stetScer\UAS.P\T.cGa driven by Scer\GAL4bam.T:Hsim\VP16.
