Chronic activation (using Bhal\NaChBacUAS.cNa) of Scer\GAL4GMR23E10 cells in adults results in a more negative correlation between nighttime, or daytime, sleep duration and behavioral responsiveness (movement) to disturbance, compared to controls.

Prolonged optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with (red) light) of Scer\GAL4GMR23E10 cells in adults significantly increases sleep duration, significantly decreases responsiveness in sleeping and awake flies, and significantly increases sleep intensity, compared to controls, with no effect on walking speed in awake flies prior to disturbance stimulus, compared to controls; responsiveness is also reduced following acute activation, compared to controls.

Acute optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with (red) light) of Scer\GAL4GMR23E10 cells in adults results in increased membrane potential and secondary spikes in the activated cells and a significant increase in extracellular local field potential power in the dorsal fan-shaped body.

Transiently increasing or decreasing synaptic activity (using Syx1AT254I.UAS or shi1.UAS, respectively, at 31[o]C) of Scer\GAL4GMR23E10 cells in adults does not significantly affect sleep or behavioral responsiveness, compared to controls.
