Drives expression in a subset of dopaminergic protocerebral anterior medial (PAM) neurons.

Scer\GAL4GMR58E02 drives expression in ple positive larval dopaminergic pPAM neurons. Expression in larval dopaminergic pPAM2 neuron is stochastic and very rare.

Scer\GAL4GMR58E02 drives expression in mushroom body extrinsic neurons that innervate mushroom body gamma lobe slices 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, mushroom body beta lobe slices 1 and 2, mushroom body beta' lobe slices 1 and 2 and mushroom body alpha lobe slice 1. Expression partially overlaps with that driven by Ecol\lexAGMR24E12 in 13 dopaminergic PAM neurons 13 and 14.

Scer\GAL4GMR58E02 labels ~90 dopaminergic PAM neurons that innervate the medial lobe of the adult mushroom body.

Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 30-33[o]C) of Scer\GAL4GMR58E02 neurons in adults, only during aversive (CS+) odor re-exposure following training, but not only during testing, prevents the aversive olfactory memory extinction that results from re-exposure, compared to controls.

Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 32[o]C) of Scer\GAL4GMR58E02 cells in adults results in a small, but significant, increase in startle-induced climbing behavior, compared to controls; inhibition of the combined set of Scer\GAL4GMR58E02 and Scer\GAL4ple.PF cells in adults does not affect startle-induced climbing behavior, compared to controls.

Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa at 32[o]C) of Scer\GAL4GMR58E02 cells in adults does not affect startle-induced climbing behavior, compared to controls; thermogenetic activation of the combined set of Scer\GAL4GMR58E02 and Scer\GAL4ple.PF cells in adults significantly reduces startle-induced climbing behavior, compared to controls.
