Expression of ALiXHMS00298 under the simultaneous control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16, Scer\GAL4nos.PG and Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16 ("MTD-GAL4") results in approximately 50% of egg chambers having 32 or more germ cells. Expression of ALiXHMS00298 under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.PG results in 40-60% of egg chambers having 32 germ cells, whereas expression under the control of Scer\GAL4bam.T:Hsim\VP16 results in normal egg chambers with 16 germ cells. Expression of ALiXHMS00298 under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.PG results in female germaria containing 'stem cysts' in which the female germline stem cells (GSCs) are interconnected to several daughter cells (both linear and branched chains of cells are seen). The fraction of female GSCs which contain a spectrosome is reduced compared to wild type.
Knockdown of ALiXHMS00298 driven in the class IV dendritic arborizing sensory neuron ddaC by Scer\GAL4ppk.1.9 does not lead to pruning defects at 18hr after puparium formation.
Expression of ALiXHMS00298 in secondary cells under the control of Scer\GAL4dsx.KI reduces exosome secretion into the accessory gland lumen compared to controls.
