Adulthood-only expression of sfl^HMS00543 under the combined control of Scer\GAL4^esg.PU and Gal80[ts] (induced by temperature shift from 18[o]C to 29[o]C) leads to adult posterior midguts showing increased mitotic index (pH3 staining), and increased number of stem cells and progenitors (i.e. Dl-positive and esg-positive cells, respectively), but unchanged numbers of enteroendocrine cells (Pros-positive cells), as compared to controls.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4^eya.enh1+E+2 results in rough and small eye phenotype.

Flies expressing sfl^HMS00543 under the control of Scer\GAL4^NP6267 (using tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to adulthood) display reduced regenerative cell proliferation in the adult posterior midgut upon infection with Pseudomonas entomophila.
