Detailed Description

Expression of simaHMS00833 under the control of Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42 does not significantly affect adult climbing ability or survival nor does it induce wing inflation defects. The number as well as volume of mitochondria at neuromuscular junctions in third instar larvae is reduced upon Scer\GAL4VGlut-OK371-driven expression of simaHMS00833 but the number of active zones is unaffected.

Expression of simaHMS00833 has no significant affect on the climbing ability of adult flies when controlled by Scer\GAL4nSyb.PU but the locomotion is strongly reduced when driven by Scer\GAL4da.PU.

The reduced climbing ability phenotype observed in park25 mutant adults or in flies expressing simaHMS00833 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.PU is (partially) mutually suppressible.

The reduced climbing ability as well as the wing inflation defects characteristic for adult flies expressing Surf1dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4nSyb.PU are significantly suppressed by co-expression of simaHMS00833; while only the wing inflation defects but not the climbing deficiency observed flies expressing ATPsynCF6KK108581 driven by Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42 are significantly improved by co-expression of simaHMS00833.

The adult locomotion and wing inflation defects as well as the reduced lifespan characteristic for flies expressing TFAMScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42 are significantly improved by co-expression of simaHMS00833. The loss of mitochondria at the larval neuromuscular junction induced by Scer\GAL4VGlut-OK371-driven expression of TFAMScer\UAS.cCa is not affected by co-expression of simaHMS00833, while the reduction in the number of active zones at the NMJ is fully rescued.
