IrbpEX8/IrbpEX8 third instar larval brains exhibit a similar frequency of cells with chromosome aberrations and no telomeric fusions compared to controls.

Heterozygotes have a normal lifespan.

Homozygotes for IrbpEX8 are hypersensitive to the chemical mutagen methyl methanesulfonate.

Homozygotes for IrbpEX8 are mildly hypersensitive to gamma irradiation.

Many of the homozygous IrbpEX8 flies have an excess of macrochaetae (large thoracic bristles) that are deformed or reduced in size.

Heterozygosity for IrbpEX8 enhances the shortened lifespan phenotype caused by expression of Hsap\HTT103Q.Ex1.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long. This enhancing effect is seen in females but not males.

Flies expressing Hsap\HTT103Q.Ex1.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Rapgap1-OK6 in a Irbp7B2/IrbpEX8 background show an enhanced age-dependent decline in climbing ability compared to control flies.
