Statement Reference Expression of S6k[Scer\UAS.cMa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[ap-md544] fails to generate a bent-down wing phenotype in a Hr46[W284X] background. Eyes containing Hr46[W284X] cell clones exhibit a significant reduction in eye size. Hr46[K243X] mutant bristle clones on the scutellum are significantly reduced in size. The orientation of these bristles is also affected, as compared to the surrounding bristles. Misorientation is also observed for the ommatidia-associated bristles in homozygous Hr46[W284X] clones. Compared to control eyes, homozygous Hr46[W284X] mutant eyes exhibit a significant reduction in surface area. The reduction in ommatidia area is not as strong as for the surface of the entire eye, indicating that the number of ommatidia is also affected. (Montagne et al., 2010)
