UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
The expression of Klp61FGL00441 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C leads to highly prevalent karyosome compaction defects in late-stage oocytes, as compared to controls: karyosomes are frequently split into multiple masses, the masses are far apart and form their own spindles, which split apart and change shape around chromosomes that move apart from each other as compared to controls; the spindles are bipolar but frequently asymmetric, associated with asymmetric centromeres, but do not show obvious central spindle defects, as compared to controls; the centromeres of homologous chromosomes are also frequently misoriented.
